Current River Conditions, May 2026
The Comal River is in excellent shape right now. Recent rainfall has raised water levels significantly across the river. Areas that were ankle deep earlier this season are now chest high, giving tubers a full and exciting float from start to finish.
Water quality is outstanding with crystal clear flows and minimal dead spots throughout the river. The Comal River runs at a constant 72 degrees year round thanks to its spring fed source, making it refreshing in the Texas summer heat no matter what the air temperature is outside.
The Comal River Tube Chute
The Tube Chute is running strong right now. With water levels up the chute is moving fast and sending tubers flying. If you have floated the Comal River during low water conditions you know how different the experience can be. Right now the Tube Chute is at its best, flipping tubes and creating the kind of whitewater exit that makes it one of the most iconic tubing experiences in Texas. Comal River tubing 2026 is delivering some of the best conditions we have seen in years.
Landa River Trips drops you in the river right above the Tube Chute, approximately 40 minutes into your float. With over two hours of river still ahead of you after the chute, you get the full Comal River experience from start to finish.
How Long is the Float Right Now?
With current water levels the float from Landa River Trips to the last public exit is running approximately two and a half to three hours. Float times on the Comal River change with water levels and rainfall. Earlier this season low water stretched floats to four and five hours. Right now conditions are ideal and float times are back to normal.
It is always best to call ahead for current float times before you make the drive.

When is the Best Time to Come?
The best time to float the Comal River is early in the morning. Groups that arrive between 9AM and 10AM enjoy the best parking, shortest lines, and a less crowded river. On busy summer weekends parking can fill by 11AM so come early and come prepared.
Weekdays are ideal for families and anyone who wants a more relaxed experience. Weekend afternoons bring larger crowds, longer lines, and a more party oriented atmosphere on the river.
