4th of July New Braunfels: A Fun Day Guide

Your guide to 4th of July in New Braunfels: parade, fireworks, and a float on the Comal, with everything timed out so you don’t get stuck at a road closure.

Parade Route & Street Closures

Downtown New Braunfels, morning of July 4th

Plan around it: The parade route closes several downtown streets for several hours on the morning of the 4th. If you’re driving in from out of town for a tube trip, give yourself extra time or come in from a different direction.

The parade is sponsored by the Sophienburg Museum in coordination with the City of New Braunfels and the Parks and Recreation Department. The route runs along W. Zink St, W. Bridge St, N. Seguin Ave, and W. San Antonio St, ending with a program on Main Plaza.

Expect closures along the full route starting before the parade begins and lifting gradually as it passes. If your route into town crosses Main Plaza, Seguin Ave, or Castell Ave downtown, build in a detour.

Fireworks at Landa Park

Evening of July 4th

New Braunfels caps off the day with a fireworks show at Landa Park. Landa Park fills up early, so if you’re heading there after your float, plan to arrive well before dark to find parking and a spot on the lawn.

Since Landa Park is just up the road from us, it’s an easy pairing: tube in the afternoon, clean up, grab dinner, and walk over for fireworks once the sun starts going down.

4th of July New Braunfels: Full Day Plan

A sample plan for parade + tubing + fireworks in one day

  • Morning Catch the parade downtown if you want to see it, then head to Landa River Trips. We open at 9AM — arriving by mid-morning gives you the whole day on the water.
  • Midday — early afternoon Float the Comal. A trip runs about 3 hours, and last river entry is 4PM, so there’s plenty of room to fit a float in even after the parade wraps up.
  • Late afternoon Dry off, grab a bite, and rest up. Last shuttle of the day is 8PM if you want one more float in before dark.
  • Evening Head to Landa Park early to claim a spot before the fireworks show starts after dark.

Heads Up: No Disposable Containers on the River

City of New Braunfels Ordinance, Chapter 86.14

The rule: Disposable cans, bottles, and cups aren’t allowed on the river — this applies every day, including the 4th. Reusable containers are fine, and alcohol is allowed as long as it’s in a reusable container.

This catches a lot of 4th of July New Braunfels groups off guard, so plan ahead. The good news is reusable setups work great for a full day out, and most coolers can be packed this way without much extra effort.
